Zardozi work

Zardozi is an intricate threadwork done using gold and silver wires as well as silk threads on silk, satin or velvet fabrics. This traditional handicraft prospered in India during 17th century. Though the industrialization created mass embroidery later, the handicraft still has its own appeal.

During my visit to Agra, I was able to witness work in progress by Zardozi artist Moideen, who has been doing the craft for about five decades.

Following are images from the workshop .
