Zardozi is an intricate threadwork done using gold and silver wires as well as silk threads on silk, satin or velvet fabrics. This traditional handicraft prospered in India during 17^th century. Though the industrialization created mass embroidery later, the handicraft still has its own appeal.

During my visit to Agra, I was able to witness work in progress by Zardozi artist Moideen, who has been doing the craft for about five decades.
