Kolhapur: Photographing old glory

This is my first post for documenting unprotected architecture examples, which have survived through the concretization of our cities & towns. Kolhapur, my home-town is one my interests to document the old buildings. Kolhapur had its own charm till 90’s. Following image was shot in Gangavesh, the part of old city near Panchganga river. These two buildings standing tall, with minimum intervention from modern times.

One of the major troubles, while photographing any Indian city, are the electric cables which get in your way. I had to go through a lot of corrections to remove the hanging wires from this shot to bring out the buildings.

I like the black & white version the most. You can decide which one is best.

Wow!! Such gems getting hidden behind dust & years of neglect … It’s a laudable initiative on your part, to bring these out in open … probably this would help generate the public awareness & subsequently, the actions necessary for conservation. And as regards the quality of your work … well, we’ve started to expect no less than “the best” from you … Great work. Bravo!!
